Yum Yum

Food is basic needs of our life and let's just say I'm a needy one on this category. I love good food! In this blog, I'd post pic of foods I dine in restaurants and tell what I think about them. I might also cook/bake sometime =)

Warung Pojok @ Grand Indonesia , Jakarta

This is gado2 from Warung Pojok restaurant. It's a dish made out of mixed vegetables and served with peanut sauce. They topped it with crackers and half boiled egg.
The taste is good and it's really filling. The food in this restaurant are mostly Indonesian culture food and the price is decent for the portion. Their dessert and drinks are good also :)

steak @ 99 ranch market Grand Indonesia, Jakarta

The steak is quite pricey for the small portion, but the meat is so tender and juicy that I don't really mind the price anymore after I bite it. They used to have a broccoli and cheese as side dish, but now it's gone! :( That's so sad, coz their broccoli and cheese is goodddd...

Paulaner Brauhaus Jakarta @Grand Indonesia

I went there with 2 friends and ate this platter. And we're still end up too full. haha
I love the thick ham the best, it has nice saltiness and juicy when it's bitten.
The red sausages are better than the white one I think, but one of my friend like the white one better.
I don't really like the pork knuckles, it's too dry I think. But the skin is crispy nice.

pasta de waraku, grand indonesia

I went to pasta de waraku at grand indonesia for dinner. I ordered the sukiyaki pasta. It taste like Japanese sukiyaki (bonito broth and soy sauce based soup), but with pasta instead of udon. I quite like this dish, because it's unusual to see this kind of menu in another restaurant.

The dish consist of pasta, tofu, cabbage, sliced beef and egg. It's supposed to be sunny side up egg, but they were out of the raw egg, so they exchange it with the boiled egg and sliced them.

Social Hour Set @SoHo, Grand Indonesia, Jakarta

There's a promo using HSBC between 3pm-8pm we can order social hour set buy 1 get 1. I ordered 2 different set, the first one is the "high tea". It consists of ham sandwich, salmon sandwich, cookies, chocolate tart, eclair, potato chips, banana cake, and bread with butter & jam. I especially like the eclair and the chocolate tart.

We ordered the 3 (or was it 4) cheese pizza and topped with mushrooms. It's really nice. The pizza is thin and the flavoring is just right. The cheese still melted when served, so it kinda melt in our mouth also :) Love it.

Saboga @GI

I went to food louver @GI yesterday for lunch. I ordered Saboga's "Siomay Bakwan". It consist of each of all type of bakwan they have. Their food tasted really good. All of the siomay/bakwan taste great, the soup is really savoury too, and of course I like it spicy =)

Whenever I ate at food louver, I would go round and round, and mostly decided to eat at Saboga instead other restaurant. Hahaha... Crazy good =)

panini @marzano pizza , GI

This is the best panini I ever ate. But, it was a promotional thing, so last time I went to marzano, they don't have this menu anymore *cry*.

The bread is really good that makes it the perfect panini, imo.

Toro Ribs @GI

I ordered half slab of ribs and it came with french fries & corn. It looks really delicious right? Well, it is delicious alright =) At least in Indonesia. I had better in USA, but this one is also good =)

I used my hand and just rip the ribs one by one easily. The meat is tender and moist and seasoned well. But, sometime I can still smell the porky, but not too much.

The french fries is not crunchy enough for me, the seasoning is good though. The corn is sweet but they only put a small toothpick on both side of the long cob, so it's kind of hard to make it balanced.

Chatterbox @Seibu GI

I went to Chatterbox with my mom because she hasn't been there in a long time. We used to like the food at Chatterbox a lot, especially the char kway teow.

That day, for appetizer I ordered fried calamari. The fried calamari is decent. The crispiness is really good but the taste has nothing special on it. One of the nicest crispy calamari =)

The char kway teow is a bust! It's so different from the old days. The taste is kind of weird, I just can't describe it. The beef is really tender, though. So, not a recommendation from me, but if you still wanna try it, the beef can be a positive side of the dish

My mom ordered the chicken and mushroom noodle. I didn't try the noodle, but the wonton that came with it is alright. The meat is full and has its chewiness I like. But, my mom finished her food, so it's probably good. =)

99 Ranch Market @GI

I went to 99 Ranch Market @ GI last Sunday with my friends. I was gonna order a steak, but then my friend said their sandwiches are great. So, I ordered one of the sandwich instead. It's called "madame croque". It's basically a pork ham in a toast, covered with melty cheese then topped with egg. It looks so good! (I think the egg has the most factoring in the yummie looks haha). I ordered mine before 4 of my friends arrive, and 2 guys immediately interested in my dish and ordered this dish also =)

Like I said it was too big for me, so I end up eating 3/4 of it and my friend finished the leftover since she doesn't really like her mac n cheese haha. It's a good sandwich and would be a nice choice if you happened to be at this restaurant, but it's not a must have dish also. They have the beef ham version without egg called "monsieur croque" btw if you prefer that.

What I like more than the sandwich is the side dish I ordered. It's "broccoli garlic". Yummy! The brocolli still has its crunchiness but not hard to bite and the taste is really nice. One of my friend also ordered this side dish after she tasted mine =)

Mr Park @GI

I tried the Korean stall at Food Louver Grand Indonesia. It's called Mr. Park.

The set meal is not expensive for the portion they served. The taste is not so authentic though. It's already turned to Indonesian style more than Korean style. Although, if you want a decent food for a decent price, you could try Mr. Park.

Toranomon @ GI

I want to order the set menu, but they have something like tongue that I don't like and when I asked if I can switch with other meat, they said cannot =( so I ordered ala carte for the meats and I also ordered intestine =P.

The meat I ordered one not marinated yet, the other has. They are both equal in texture, really good! But of course the one marinated has more flavor infused in them. I also like the intestine =)

For the soup, I tried the beef with turnip soup. The turnip is really soft but not crushed. So, you can bite into it easily. The taste is kind of bland but I don't think this kind of soup fit with strong taste anyway. So overall, I like this soup =). The beef meat is also very tender and nice. If you bring your parents to this restaurant and they're into this kind of food, you should order this soup =)

A lil warning tho, this restaurant is not cheap =)

kopitiam @ GI

I went to kopitiam @Grand Indo couple days after they just launched. It was a really bad experience for me. I ordered the combo kaya toast (with fries, weird combo), coffee/tea, and egg.

The kaya toast is average at best. The butter is too thick so it felt yucky because it's just too much butter. The french fries is bland in taste and the texture is just so-so, you can easily make one from frozen fries and might come out better than this.

I ordered ice tea, they served me hot tea.

I ordered half boiled egg. It came out almost raw! I told the servant about it, they took it to the kitchen, and I sat around 15 - 20 mins before it came out again, still in the same bowl, and no change from the almost raw egg. I end up not touching that at all.

It's still alright if the service is ok. But the service is weird, too. I dine alone in a two seats table. A servant should serve your food on your side of table, but no, they served my meal on the other side of the table. I have to reach out to the end of the table, and pull the plate toward my side. Then, they forgot to give me dining utensils, when I asked for it, the same thing happened. They just sort of throw them on the other side of the table, not even bother to put it in a good manner.

It's a big NO for me for this cafe.

Pizza Marzano @Grand Indonesia West Mall, Jakarta

I never ate at this restaurant before, but I really love their pizza! I tried the English Breakfast pizza, it has egg in the middle and then ham, bacon, mushroom and melted cheese of course =).

The taste is really good and it's kind of crispy because the pizza is thin. I would definitely go back to this restaurant to try the other menu! The pasta looks really good, too, and the portion is huge! Slurp...

-Jun Njan- restaurant @Grand Indonesia Mall, Jakarta

I went to GI for fitness yesterday. But, couple hours before that I stopped by at -Jun Njan- restaurant at west part of Grand Indonesia mall to have my lunch.

First, I order "asparagus soup with crab meat". I never tried this soup before, but I don't really like it. The taste is OK, but the crab is not cleaned properly so everytime I bite the crab meat, there's always the shell of the crab. So, it's kind of annoying for me and I can't savor my food so much when I got interrupted by that stupid shells! Not my recommendation to order this one.

Then, I ordered "fried squid Jun Njan sauce". This one is my favorite dish from this restaurant. The squid is always so soft, never found any that's chewy in texture. The sauce is salty and has a little sour taste. The best squid dish ever for me! I always ask for this dish whenever I go to Jun Njan restaurant.

Jun Njan restaurant has a lot of branches. I know they have it at Grandi mall, Jl. Batutulis (Pecenongan area), Pluit area, also inside Urban Kitchen (like a food court in mall like Plaza Indonesia), and some other places that I can't recall. You just gotta have the squid! =D

-Chatterbox- inside Seibu @Grand Indonesia Mall, Jakarta

Me and my mom went to -ChatterBox- restaurant located inside Seibu at Grand Indonesia Mall, Jakarta today. We decided to try the swimming fish menu, so basically you pay half price for the second dish.

We ordered pan-seared salmon with spaghetti for the first dish. The pasta and salmon not seasoned enough. All the flavor came from the tomato salsa that I think has been cooked with vinegar. So, you got to mix them together when eating it or else you will taste nothing. The salmon is crispy on the side but moist inside. The pasta is overcooked for me, because I like mine al dente.

This is grilled salmon with mushroom sauce. This dish is kind of weird in taste on my opinion. The mushroom sauce taste kind of like "lontong sayur". The salmon is ok, not crispy like the other one but it's moist. It's just weird.

I think I'll stick with what eastern food at this restaurant next time. I know that the eastern food taste good because I went to this restaurant lots of time. The western food is just weirdddd...

-Kiyadon- @Grand Indonesia mall for girls night out

So, last night I went for dinner at -Kiyadon- Grand Indonesia with my girls =). I mentioned before in this post http://yummieonmytummie.blogspot.com/2010/08/kihana-restaurant-plaza-indonesia.html that -Kiyadon- and -Kihana- is actually the same except the price seems higher at -Kihana- & I also mentioned that I will try to order the same salmon dish as I had the other day (out of the menu, they don't have "salmon mentaiyaki" at -Kihana-), so I did.

I ordered salmon with mayo and tobiko sauce. It came out like 20mins after I ordered it, and I was disappointed. The salmon still has the fishy smell on it, it's not juicy enough, and the skin is not crispy like the one at -Kihana-, the sauce is also not that good.

Then, we ordered the "banana pizza" for dessert. It's a thin pizza dough baked to great crispiness and the topping are banana and dark chocolate sprinkle. The crispiness of the pizza is really good!! The banana also really sweet but not overwhelming and the dark chocolate add the richness into this dessert without adding too much sweetness into it. I really like this "banana pizza", even if you dislike banana, you should try this =)

-Carls Jr.- @Grand Indonesia mall

I went to GI on my way to Medistra hospital today. Because the time is short, so I figured take away burger should be quick. I never tried -Carls Jr.- that opened @Grand Indonesia mall a month ago, so I want to try it.

When I look at it the first time, it's huge! Well, for me at least, it's just too big haha. And, I still have french fries that goes with the package. I bought the "Swiss cheese and mushroom burger". It taste delicious! Not too salty, the meat is moist, the mushroom is savory and has a bit of crunchy texture on it, the cheese melting in your mouth. It's really good!

French fries is also not bad, I would like a bit more crunch into it, but for the thick cut size, the crunchiness it has is already good enough. I still think McDonald's french fries better though.

strawberry shortcake @Bonjour, Grand Indo mall, Jakarta

This is the cake that we bought for my friend's birthday last night. This -Bonjour- cakeshop located in Ranch Market area of Grand Indonesia mall.

This "strawberry shortcake" is too sweet for me. The cake is really soft though, so I like it. The cream is not like a regular cream, too. It's kind of sweet and smells nice. And, the strawberries... Gotta love them strawberries hehe, it's kind of sour but has lots of water in it. So, if you eat the strawberries with the cake at the same time, you got a great combination.

-Mr. Curry- @Grand Indo mall, Jakarta

I went to -Mr. Curry- at Grand Indonesia mall, Jakarta for dinner last night. It's my friend's birthday party. =)

I ordered "salmon cheese curry rice" and "mango lassi". The salmon and cheese are covered with bread flour and deep fried to the crisp then put beside the Japanese white rice that's cooked to the perfectness and then of course the curry sauce (I ordered original sauce very spicy). Yummie on my tummie it is =p

And then the "mango lassi"!! It's a mango smoothie added with yogurt. Well, it's not the best I tried so far, but I don't think I know any other place that serve "mango lassi" in Jakarta. The yogurt is just not sour enough for me. So, it's OK to satisfy my craving from time to time, since the other one I tasted before is in Beijing, China haha kinda far just for a craving :p
