Yum Yum

Food is basic needs of our life and let's just say I'm a needy one on this category. I love good food! In this blog, I'd post pic of foods I dine in restaurants and tell what I think about them. I might also cook/bake sometime =)

"putu bambu" @Pluit area, Jakarta

I was looking for a late night snack couple days ago, but because of Lebaran holiday, most of them still closed. But, when I passed the Pluit area, I noticed the stall that sells "putu bambu" is open =). So, I decided to buy some.

Putu bambu is made from rice flour and it's filled with palm sugar then steamed. It's served with shredded coconut. This stall sells a great "putu bambu", it's really fragrance, the sweetness is just right and not petty on the filling and topping =P

Other than "putu bambu", this stall also sell great "lopis (green and black versions available), putu mayang and klepon". I would review them some other time =)

-Jun Njan- restaurant @Grand Indonesia Mall, Jakarta

I went to GI for fitness yesterday. But, couple hours before that I stopped by at -Jun Njan- restaurant at west part of Grand Indonesia mall to have my lunch.

First, I order "asparagus soup with crab meat". I never tried this soup before, but I don't really like it. The taste is OK, but the crab is not cleaned properly so everytime I bite the crab meat, there's always the shell of the crab. So, it's kind of annoying for me and I can't savor my food so much when I got interrupted by that stupid shells! Not my recommendation to order this one.

Then, I ordered "fried squid Jun Njan sauce". This one is my favorite dish from this restaurant. The squid is always so soft, never found any that's chewy in texture. The sauce is salty and has a little sour taste. The best squid dish ever for me! I always ask for this dish whenever I go to Jun Njan restaurant.

Jun Njan restaurant has a lot of branches. I know they have it at Grandi mall, Jl. Batutulis (Pecenongan area), Pluit area, also inside Urban Kitchen (like a food court in mall like Plaza Indonesia), and some other places that I can't recall. You just gotta have the squid! =D

-Imperial Wok- @Pantai Indah Kapuk, Pluit area, Jakarta

I went to Pantai Indah Kapuk at Pluit area 2 days ago and tried -Imperial Wok- restaurant for the first time. It's located above -Fresh Market- inside PIK area and I went to this market often, but the restaurant just never appealed much to me. But, yesterday, I just thought, "since I'm in the area, why not?"

I ordered cold dish of "spicy jellyfish" for my appetizer. It's kind of bland in taste, but the texture of the jellyfish is really good. I added more chili oil to this to give it more taste. Overall, I like it but just gotta put more taste into it to suit your tastebud =)

Since this restaurant having a discount of 50% if one of the customer is older than 50 years old (bring your ID card) for a minimum of Rp. 250,000 (food only, does not include dim sum menu), I ordered duck to go. But, they need to serve it on the table first and I just need to tell them to put it on a box after I finished eating. So, I steal one from the plate to taste it. It's really good! The skin is crispy, but still have a little fat into it so it's not too dry. The meat is really tasty and moist.

This is "spicy beef with broccoli". It's average, the taste is spicy and salty but the beef is not that good. Nothing special about this dish.

The "deep-fried soft shell crab with salted egg" is superb! It has that salty and rich taste from the salted egg that covering the soft shell crab. It's also spicy good! The soft shell crab is fried to perfect crispiness. I recommend this dish!!

For the dessert, I had this "durian pancake". The pancake is soft and thin and the filling is not too sweet, so this dessert tasted real nice for me.

Overall, this restaurant has great food. I will come back to this restaurant to try other food and maybe some dim sum.

"Es Campur Solo" -Singapore- restaurant @Pluit

I went to -Singapore- restaurant @Pluit today and order this dessert "es campur solo".

The ingredients are mixture of black glutinous rice, grass jelly, cendol (traditional  dessert), tape (fermented cassava), sweet potato balls, jack-fruit with crushed ice and coconut milk already sweetened with palm sugar. It's really yummy!

If you happened to be in Pluit area and craving for something sweet and refreshing, try this dessert =)
