Yum Yum

Food is basic needs of our life and let's just say I'm a needy one on this category. I love good food! In this blog, I'd post pic of foods I dine in restaurants and tell what I think about them. I might also cook/bake sometime =)

Sweet tooth relief :P Fifty 50 wafer and Rice Krispies Treat from Kellogs

If you are a diabetic and craving for sweets, you can try looking for this Fifty 50 wafer. I had to ordered it online though, I don't think they are sold in Indonesia. They have chocolate, strawberry and vanilla flavor. I love the chocolate taste but I also like the strawberry sometime. The sweetness is just right and the wafer is crispy. Love it.

This one is a rice kripies treat from Kellogs. It is sweet (not for diabetic person!!) because it's made out of marshmallow and butter mixed with rice krispies. But, it's one of my favorite snack back in college. My sister just sent me some couple weeks ago, and I totally love it ... :D

strawberry cheesecake @opus cafe, Plaza Indonesia, Jakarta

I wanted to cut my hair before CNY and I had to wait between 6-9pm. So, I asked my best friend to accompany me in between those time. I met with her in PI and look for a place to hangout. We were going to hang out at C&S, but as usual it's full.

So, we decide to try something new. Close to C&S, there's Opus cafe. I don't wanna eat too heavy, so I opt for sweet taste. I ordered strawberry cheesecake, coz the strawberry looks yummy....

The strawberry is kind of sour :) but juicy. While the cheesecake is not too creamy the way I like it, but my friend said she likes it if it's more creamy hehe... The bottom could be crispier though...

I had fun talking while enjoying cake with my friend :)

Food @Pasar Baru, Jakarta

Beside the famous Bakmi Gang Kelinci, there's a small alley, go thru that alley and on the left you will see a puff cake (cakwe). The square one is a little bit sweet while the long one is salty. It's not bad, but the salty one is not as good as the one sold at Mangga Besar area.

Pass that puff cake stall, just go straight and you will find a restaurant in front of you, I think the name is bakmi Aguan. It's said that the owner of this restaurant is a sibling from bakmi gang kelinci out front. But I think this one tasted better. :)
Picture says a thousand words :D

Steak @ La Biere, Central Park Mall, Jakarta

My friend's family own this restaurant and I came to try out. I tried the steak, and as you can see, if you like medium-cook steak like me, you would love this steak. It's really tender and juicy. The french fries I would love it if it could be a little thinner so it's more crispy and seasoned more would be lovely.

This place is a cool place to hang out in Tribeca part of Central Park mall in Jakarta. :)

macaroons from megaroons

I ordered megaroons on christmas season. Got 6 flavors which consist of chestnut&rum, chocolate, green tea, baileys, blueberry, cherry. I was expecting a great flavor out of the chestnut&rum and baileys because I like alcohol, but it turns out just ok. I love the green tea and the blueberry more.

Megaroons' macaroons are very crispy on the skin which makes it good :) But it could do better on the coloring I think. This way it looks like too much coloring paste on it.

Riser from KFC

My office is close to KFC Cideng, so sometime I would stop by to buy some breakfast on the way to my office. Their Riser, a mix of tortilla, chicken strip and egg. It's delicious :D The portion is quite small but enough for my tummy. I usually add milo to complete my breakfast tho hihihi

Sari Bundo Padang Restaurant @ Juanda, Jakarta

If you never been to Padang restaurant before, this is how you will be served. They will take most of the food on plates and served on your table, you don't have to order except if what you wanted are not on the table yet or if you want more portion on some things.

I like Sari Bundo for Padang restaurant the most. Their chicken gulai or roasted are the best. But they are not cheap like other Padang restaurant. I also like their potato chips with spicy taste. What I love the best from them are their "Soto Padang" below. It's in a small bowl, consist of rice vermicelli, tomato, fried beef in beef soup. The bestttttt ever!

fried oyster omelette @laupasat , Singapore

I was craving for fried oyster omelette and my friend said the one at laupasat is not bad. So, on my last day at Singapore, I decide to give it a try. The oyster are huge, but the egg is not as crispy as I wanted. The omelette was too soggy for me. :( But it satisfy my craving for now... hahaha

Durian cake @Big O cafe, Singapore

I saw this cake at someone's blog before I went to another trip to Sg and I decide it right then and there to have it no matter what! And, I wasn't wrong to decide that. It's heavenly omfgly superbly good this cake... I even saw next to me a couple getting another portion after they finished with one.

The durian is soft while covered with a layer of chocolate. It's the best combo ever!

It's called Spike D cake at Big O cafe. I tried the one at Wheelock place , Orchard. But they have other branch too. If you're into durian, you musttttt die die try this cake :D

noodle with fish balls @ Chinatown , Singapore

I went to foodcourt at Chinatown, Singapore. One of the stalls is quite packed with patrons, so I decided to give it a try. The fish balls are quite huge and springy. The noodle is cooked to my liking, still a bit springy :D.
And then I asked for it to be spicy ... Also, they add deep fried pork lard on the bowl. Yummy :P

Casa D'Oro @Kempinski Hotel, Jakarta

We ate 3 course meal at the casa d'oro kempinski jakarta.

The first to come out is an appetizer of shrimp with tomato sauce and orange zest. The shrimp is fresh but the tomato sauce could have been better.

Second is more appetizer all with cheese theme on it but different kinds. Nothing special on this dish.

Finally the main dish :) It's a pasta tomato based sauce with squid. The squid if you can spot form the picture above is really small! It's like baby baby squid and it's cooked real well :P And the pasta that looks like clam is cooked to perfection... While the tomato sauce is a bit sweet and sour. I like it :)

They also offer us dessert at the end. I'm on diet but I can't resist to get at least one :P well 2 actually hahaha
I took the finger look alike that melts in your mouth the moment it touch :D and the second one is the dark choco on the back.. yummy... :D

If there's more voucher i wouldn't mind going back but if I have to pay the full price for the food here, I will think twice because the price is not cheap and the food are OK but not that great.

agogo @ pasar muara karang

it's watercrest noodle (bakmi kangkung) from agogo muara karang. Stir fried with big chunks of tomato, shrimps and clam. Yummy, it has some stocks on the bottom of the noodle so it's not too dry.

This one is fried kwayteow with chinese sausage ... The color is not so great but the taste is great :D
The kwayteow is a little chewy and the chinese sausage is fragrance... I can't wait to go back !!!

It only open from morning to afternoon if I recall correctly :)

Bobabits @PIK, Jakarta

I came to Bobabits on Monday CNY morning and they're open :)

Altho they're out of big boba, they have the small boba. I never tried small boba before, so I ordered taro milk tea with small boba. It taste great :D

The taro is fragrance and the small boba is chewy enough. I ordered it with no sugar, so the sweetness is really low but I like it :) I'm going to be back for more soon...

cake on cny morning @home

Still on CNY event, the next morning I had these 2 types of cakes for breakfast :) It symbolized happiness and prosperity for the upcoming years.

The small red cake is filled with mung bean, while the skin is from glutinous flour. Yum...
The white and pink and is filled with taosa or black bean i guess?
The blooming red one is plain with no filling. All 3 are yummy :D

CNY dinner @ home :D

Oh my, 4 persons eating 12 portions of food. hahaha amazing ... Hope with this, comes abundance of health and wealth into my home and family. :)

First dish would be the very nice pork spring rolls with bamboo shoot. The crispiness of the skin and the juiciness of the pork... Nobody could resist it...

Second, would be the shark fin soup with crab meat and crab roe... Yummy! Add some black vinegar into it just the way I like it.

Number 3 would be sea cucumber, cooked in chicken soup. The sea cucumber is soft and melting in my mouth hihi

4th is fried ngohiang. This year I tried to put big chunks of water chestnut instead of grate them. It makes the ngohiang kind of soggy because we didn't dried them properly :(

5th! The hong ba! Nyam2 ... the meat and the mushroom is juicy and the squid add some flavor into them. Too bad this time the sauce that comes with it is soooo little that it doesn't taste as good as usual.

6th is tanghun. It's a sort of rice vermicelli It's stir fried with shrimp. It signifies long strand of prosperity :)

7th fried shrimp then stir fried with butter and sweet soysauce. Shrimp signifies laughter and happiness that will come into the family.

8th stir fried dried-scallop with egg. It is said that scallop signifies to bear a son soon. Haha , I don't think it have anything to do with my family, except if my sister having another son soon, hahaha.

9th is abalone and mushroom cooked in chicken soup. My favorite seafood :)

10th is hand made pork sausages in pork broth.

11th is vegetable stir-fry with fried bbq pork. Yummy!

Another dish is just a plain vegetable stir fry, which makes it 12 dishes in total... Hahaha but of course we didn't finish it in one go, we're not that savage :D

The bottom point is ... Delicious!!

The Butcher @Gandaria City Mall, Jakarta

In this restaurant, you can order a platter of different meat and different sauces for tester. So, the next time you come to this restaurant, you know which one suits you the best. Since this is the first time I've been here, I decided to do that.

7 flavored spices to try out, from ranch, bbq, honey mustard, black pepper, wine, mushroom and pesto I think. I like the pesto, wine and honey mustard.

Different kind of meats to try out too. But the meat is not as I expected them to be. It's not so juicy and ... well, the tasting portion is just too small for my meat portion hahaha...

Ten Ten @ Plaza Indonesia, Jakarta (again...)

Tried their ebi furai this time.. the potato salad is not bad .. not too creamy so after u eat it, not too bloated. :) The shrimp is decent, not too small but not as big as I wanted. But overall, if you craving for ebi furai, this one still can satisfy your need :)

The beef is over flavoured. I don't really complain since I like my food salty and the saltiness on this one can still be tolerated by me, but some old folks might be jumping on their chair eating this. :D And to pair the beef, I had spicy version of tempura. Nyam nyam...

beef and mushroom sandwich from Starbucks

This is beef and mushroom sandwich from Starbucks. I never suspected their food to be good, but I was dead wrong.
It's super good... The beef ham is super nice and mushroom makes it more juicy. A good portion for my full breakfast :P

Dessert at Cork n Screw @ Plaza Indonesia, Jakarta

This is the 3 chocolate cake. It consist of custard, milk choco and dark choco. I love the custard and dark choco. The milk choco is too sweet for my taste. The inside of the cake is melting good! And it's fragrance of chocolate is all over the place when you cut open the cake. It's not expensive also :D Yummy!

My friend like this banana dessert but I think it's mediocre. When it came out, I tot it's going to be crispy just by the looks of it, but its too soft, plus the texture of the banana is also soft, so there's no mixture of texture here that my tastebud just got bored of it. But I don't like banana, and I can still eat this one, so it's OK i guess :)

Durian Pancake @ Jala Jala , Taman Anggrek

I was walking toward the supermarket in Taman Anggrek Mall when I passed this Jala Jala restaurant. I never went in and ate there before, but the restaurant is packed with people. When I look around the restaurant, I spot they sell durian pancake and I bought it.

When I got home, I ate the durian pancake right away, and it's superb! The durian is full and the pancake skin is thin. The taste of the durian is so nice also :D Love it !

Warung Pojok @ Grand Indonesia , Jakarta

This is gado2 from Warung Pojok restaurant. It's a dish made out of mixed vegetables and served with peanut sauce. They topped it with crackers and half boiled egg.
The taste is good and it's really filling. The food in this restaurant are mostly Indonesian culture food and the price is decent for the portion. Their dessert and drinks are good also :)

steak @ 99 ranch market Grand Indonesia, Jakarta

The steak is quite pricey for the small portion, but the meat is so tender and juicy that I don't really mind the price anymore after I bite it. They used to have a broccoli and cheese as side dish, but now it's gone! :( That's so sad, coz their broccoli and cheese is goodddd...

Ten Ten @ Plaza Indonesia, Jakarta

I ordered the set that includes ebi and veggie tempura, ebi katsu, miso soup and rice. The taste is quite nice for a decent price. The ebi tempura is not too small and the ebi katsu is quite tasty. The miso soup could be better though in my opinion.
They have 3 kinds of flavor for the tempura, u can have original version, black pepper version or spicy version. I tried the original and the spicy version, the difference is only that the spicy version have chilli powder on top of the tempura. Not too much of different in taste itself.

Paulaner Brauhaus Jakarta @Grand Indonesia

I went there with 2 friends and ate this platter. And we're still end up too full. haha
I love the thick ham the best, it has nice saltiness and juicy when it's bitten.
The red sausages are better than the white one I think, but one of my friend like the white one better.
I don't really like the pork knuckles, it's too dry I think. But the skin is crispy nice.

Biji salak @ Muara Karang area

It's a dessert called "biji salak" from Indonesia. It's made from sweet potato and flour, I think. The best biji salak I ever had is from this small restaurant in Muara Karang area. They also sell "gado-gado" a dish from vegetables served with peanut sauce.

The picture is from that small restaurant's biji salak. The flavor is really rich of coconut milk and shredded coconut, while the brown sugar have the right sweetness for me. The biji salak is not too soft, yet not too chewy. Perfect!

glutinous rice balls with pork cubes and salted egg yolk

The glutinous rice with pork cubes and salted egg yolk from Singapore. Super delicious!!! The pork cubes are succulent while the egg yolk is not too dry and give a rich taste into it. The glutinous rice is not soggy as well, so it's YUMMY!

Korean Cookies, Choco and Vanilla ice cream from Jakarta fruit market

I went to Jakarta fruit market and found this nice ice cream. It's cookies and choco and vanilla flavor. The texture is a little bit crunchy because of the crushed cookies. I like it very much :) The inside is vanilla flavor. The ice cream is not too creamy so I don't feel bloated after eating it. But I feel like I want more... hahaha
