Yum Yum

Food is basic needs of our life and let's just say I'm a needy one on this category. I love good food! In this blog, I'd post pic of foods I dine in restaurants and tell what I think about them. I might also cook/bake sometime =)

Family Ria @Sunter, Jakarta

This restaurant is located at Sunter area. It's a Chinese food restaurant. It's a family restaurant so everywhere you look you will spot families. I went here just now and the restaurant was packed with families, from children to really old people. The service is not bad either, they were quick to notice our needs like ordering food, refill on drinks, etc.

This vegetable called "pakis" (not really sure what's the english word for this vegetable, if you know the word would you please tell me :) thanks) . The texture of "pakis" is crunchy and it doesn't have any vegetable feeling of it at all (if you know what I meant =p). This vegetable is cooked with "terasi" some called it shrimp paste. On top of that, they also added lots of chunks of dried shrimp so the fragrance is really good and you got extra crunch from it.

It's not common to find this vegetable in any restaurant, so far I only know this restaurant and another restaurant called -Hawaii- just couple building away from this restaurant. The gossip is that Hawaii and this restaurant were actually one restaurant but they had a clash and split into two restaurants now. That's why the lots of food in Hawaii and Family Ria are the same.

This one is "fried egg with oyster". The egg texture is nice, it's not too gooey from the cornstarch like other restaurants, but also not too dry. I think they have the perfect composition of egg and cornstarch, so when you bite it, it still have that chewiness and the original taste of the egg.

What I don't like about this dish is the oysters are very rare. So, it's more like you're eating a common fried egg without oyster and they just accidentally drop couple oysters into it hehe...

The best restaurant that I've been so far that serve a godly "fried egg with oyster" is -Tio Ciu- restaurant @Mangga Besar, Jakarta. But, they don't really mixed the oysters inside the egg, it's more like lots of oysters on top of the eggs. But the oysters are big and really satisfying.

It's "fried soft shell crab". I don't really like this dish at this restaurant. The flour batter is too thick, and the crab is maturing a bit, so you can taste that some of the shell is not as soft as it should be anymore. Sure you can still eat it, but it's just not that good anymore.

The best restaurant for this dish is -Fajar- restaurant @Harmoni, Jakarta.

Last dish on the table. It's called "special fish ball & wonton soup".

The picture I have here is the "wonton". The skin contains fish, so it's not a regular wonton wrapper at all. The inside is pork. I love this "wonton" a lot. The texture of this "wonton" is kind of crunchy from the skin. The fish ball is really soft but still springy so it's real good.

I would recommend the "pakis cah terasi" and "special fish ball & wonton soup" for this restaurant. You just gotta taste them! =)
